The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is horrified by the brutal attack on a young Sikh woman in Oldbury. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim, her family, and the Sikh community, and we urge anyone with information to come forward and assist the police investigation.
This crime comes amid a climate where far-right scapegoating, disinformation, and misinformation spread hate and lies. Women are so often on the front line of this violence, and the normalisation of such hatred only deepens their vulnerability. Those who loudly claim to ‘protect our women and children’ are silent when such attacks occur, exposing a dangerous hypocrisy.
We stand in solidarity with our Sikh brothers and sisters. All perpetrators of such heinous crimes, regardless of background, must face the full force of the law.
Hatred and violence against women and girls know no boundaries, and silence in the face of racism and violence makes us all less safe.
