On 23 October 2019, Harun Khan, MCB Secretary General, gave oral evidence on the impact of the Government’s Two-child Benefit Limit to the House of Parliament Work and Pensions Committee.
In the evidence he outlined how the policy unfairly penalises children who have no control over the size of their family, and that the policy contributes to increased child poverty, which disproportionately impacts those in low socio-economic groups and religious minorities, particularly Muslims.
