The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) cautiously welcomes news of a ceasefire and hostage deal, bringing a moment of respite to millions who have endured unimaginable suffering. But let us be clear, this ceasefire comes after months of devastation and the mass killing of civilians in what human rights experts have described as a genocide. Those responsible must be held accountable in international courts.
Now must come an urgent and unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, the rebuilding of shattered lives, and a genuine commitment to peace rooted in justice. The Palestinian people cannot rebuild their futures under the shadow of an illegal occupation.
