The Muslim Council of Britain is calling for urgent international action following the unfolding humanitarian crisis in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur in Sudan. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia have reportedly carried out a series of executions of innocent civilians, including journalists, humanitarian aid workers and children. The fact that mass graves and pools of blood are visible from satellite imagery is enough for us to understand that we are witnessing a war crime on a disastrous scale.
We call on the UK Government to take immediate action to intervene in this escalating crisis and call for safe passages to be made open for civilians, to ensure unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid and to work with the international community to call for an end to this ongoing war which is costing the lives of innocent civilians. The UK must act to end yet another humanitarian crisis unfolding before our eyes.
