The Muslim Council of Britain today condemned the massacre of children at a Peshawar school. Some 135 children were killed in an attack in Pakistan earlier today.

Dr Shuja Shafi, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain said: “This is a truly shocking incident that will hit home to anyone: mothers, fathers and anyone who have the humanity to uphold the innocence of children. Killing children, who Islam always holds as innocent, is the most heinous crime one can think of. While it is very hard to find the words to respond to the tragedy before us, I can only quote a verse from the Quran in which it says: ‘Whosoever kills a human being, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind’.
