Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain today condemned the murder of 25 Christians in a bomb attack in Egypt over the weekend. “I condemn this callous attack, it is clear that the perpetrators targeted their victims because of other faith. For over a thousand years Muslims have lived side-by-side with Christians, Jews and people of other faiths in the Middle East and beyond, attacks such as these may be aimed at destroying that heritage — we must not allow them to succeed.  My thoughts are with the victims and their families.

And I extend my hand in friendship and solidarity with the Christian community, as I do with all communities around the world who have suffered from brutal terrorist attacks in the last 48 hours. This includes Istanbul, Nigeria, Somalia and others. Many people around the world have suffered an increasing rate of brutal attacks in 2016, be it in France, the USA, Syria, Iraq or Pakistan. All of them are united by the fact that they claim innocent lives and untold suffering. I pray that our children are granted a more peaceful year ahead”.
