The Muslim Council of Britain welcomes the BBC’s Religion and Ethics review where there will be greater coverage on world religions, with an emphasis to convey better understanding of religion with sufficient depth in underlying religious or cultural dimensions.

The Deputy Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Dr Omer El-Hamdoon, said: “We are pleased to see these practical steps being taken by the BBC to ensure greater representation and deeper understanding of religions. We are deeply encouraged to see that much of the feedback we provided to the BBC during their consultation process has been considered. As quite rightly stated, many religions are often misunderstood, and Islam being no exception. Having programmes and news stories that delve deeper, will be a breath of fresh air. We look forward to seeing the new measures taking effect in the coming years”.
