Brexit Day: Unite the Country, Celebrate our Diversity, Move Forward
As the UK formally leaves the European Union, Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, issued the following statement:
“As our country now enters a fresh new chapter in its history, it is crucial for us all to come together and heal the nation. In the last few years, we have witnessed bitter divisions in our society which has resulted in a rise in hate crime against minorities, particularly Muslims.
“We earnestly hope that our leaders will be able to use their convening power to overcome hate and pull together Britons of all backgrounds.
“Our country’s strength lies in our diversity. It will enable us to forge deeper relationships with other parts of the world. I pray we can move forward in unity, prosperity and a renewed sense of purpose for the common good.”
