The Muslim Council of Britain has appealed for the BBC reporter, Alan Johnston, to be released immediately without harm.

“Journalists such as Alan Johnston risk their lives every day to bring us news from hot spots around the world. We call on whichever group is currently holding him to release him safely and swiftly. There can be no excuse to justify the kidnapping of journalists who are engaged in their work of news reporting,” said Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain.

The MCB calls on both the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Prime Minister designate, Ismail Haniyeh, to to exert their utmost efforts in securing Alan Johnston’s release.
