23 November 2024 is the deadline for candidate nominations for the leadership of Muslim Council of Britain.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is pleased to announce the call for candidates for its 2025 leadership elections, issued on 26th October 2024, with elections scheduled for January 2025. Zara Mohammed, the first female Secretary General of the MCB, will be completing her maximum two terms in office.
The Muslim Council of Britain is the UK’s largest and most diverse umbrella body of Muslim organisations. The election will seek to fill the roles of Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, and, National Council members.
Khalid Sofi, Election Commissioner, said, “This election is an opportunity for British Muslims to help select their next leaders through their Islamic organisations. We aim to ensure a transparent process where communities can meet the candidates and hear their visions for the future of the MCB.”
Background:
The MCB holds elections every two years, having elected seven Secretary Generals since 1997. Representing over 500 affiliated organisations, it is the UK’s largest and most diverse Muslim umbrella body.
