ICS_Logo_Positive_RGB_LandscapeInternational Citizen Service (ICS) is a once-in-a-lifetime volunteering opportunity open to all 18 to 25-year-olds, funded by the UK government.  It gives you the chance to work side-by-side with local volunteers in developing countries, to make a meaningful contribution to fighting poverty, and to gain valuable skills that will stay with you long after the 10 -12 week placement is complete.

ICS placements are between 10 -12 weeks long and in 26 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America

ICS volunteers don’t need any particular qualifications or experience, just the motivation to make a difference.

It doesn’t cost to take part in ICS; flights, accommodation, food, visas and training is included. Volunteers are expected and supported to fundraise a minimum of £800 before their placement to demonstrate their commitment and to enable more young people to take part in the programme.

ICS is led by VSO in partnership with a hand-picked group of respected development organisations. They each offer structured support and training to help and guide you – before, during and after your overseas placement.
