The MCB’s twentieth Annual General meeting, on Saturday 15th July 2017, brings together representatives from the cross-section of Muslim civil society to reflect on what has happened in a truly dramatic year. There will be first-hand observations to share by community activists directly involved in mobilising the Muslim vote in the June General Election; those involved in managing mosque affairs, and responses at times of crisis, such as, the Grenfell Tower tragedy; addressing social realities; positive responses to divisive trends.

Former Director General of Al Jazeera TV Network and Co-founder of The Sharq Forum, Wadah Khanfar, will be delivering a keynote speech on the ‘geopolitical strategic perspective of the challenges and opportunities confronting the Muslim world, including references to the role of Muslim minorities in the West’.

A second keynote speech will be delivered by the Grand Mufti of Lithuania, Shaikh Ramadan Yaqoob, who will provide perspectives of how Lithuanian Muslim society has changed in recent times, with reflections on the Challenges facing Muslim communities in Europe and on post-conflict challenges as we commemorate this week the 21st anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Missing Muslims’ report by the Citizens Commission on Islam, Participation & Public Life will be presented by Neil Jameson CBE, Executive Director Citizens UK
