As of the 20th of May 2020, the organ donor law has changed in England to an opt-out system. The new law states that “all adults in England will be considered to have agreed to be an organ donor when they die unless they had recorded a decision not to donate or are in one of the excluded groups”.
You still have a choice of whether or not you want to be a donor, but if you do not want to be a donor you must record it with the NHS via a Register your Decision form with NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT).

Wales became the first nation in the UK to introduce an opt-out system in 2015. Scotland is planning to introduce an opt-out system into law in 2021. The current organ donation law in Northern Ireland remains an opt-in system.
