Through her yummy cakes and sheer determination, Nadiya Hussain won the admiration of the Great British Bake Off judges and the indeed the Great British public. The Muslim Council of Britain congratulates Nadia, not only for being an inspiration to young British Muslims but also breezing through the competition without having to comment on her Muslim identity — despite initial concerns. Nadiya has proven to all of us that British Muslims are very much part and parcel of British society.
The Great British Bake off is a popular TV series watched by millions in Britain. The response by viewers has been amazing with a huge outpouring of support and empathy for Nadiya.
