Eid al-Adha Prayers at Mosques Not Impacted by Local Lockdown in Parts of Northern England

The UK Government has announced new lockdown restrictions in Greater Manchester, east Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire.

Mosques, subject to the known restrictions including social distancing, are not affected by the lockdown measures announced. This has been confirmed by the Director of Public Health in Manchester and Number 10.

Eid prayers at mosques are therefore still permitted.

As of midnight, different households are not able to meet indoors.

The areas impacted by this are: Greater Manchester, Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Rossendale, Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale. These restrictions also apply in Leicester.

The Muslim Council of Britain has worked with the British Islamic Medical Association to produce advice on how best Muslims can celebrate Eid al-Adha safely and in accordance with public health guidance in England.
