The Muslim Council of Britain is tonight monitoring the situation in Forest Hill following reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Forest Hill Overground station, south London. The perpetrator is alleged to have been targeting Muslims. Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain said: “There is understandably a great deal of anxiety of news that a person was allegedly targeting Muslims for attack. While we wait to hear further details of this incident, we call for calm and for necessary vigilance at a time of increased hostility against Muslims. British Transport Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as a serious hate crime whilst many in the community are questioning why this is not classified as a terrorist incident similar to the attack that took place in Leytonstone station last year.
