In the second anniversary of George Floyd’s murder in the US, we reflect on the issues of racial justice and equality that have come to the fore.
Zara Mohammed, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain said:
“The death of George Floyd had a significant impact globally and was a wake up call to deep seated institutional racism and inequality that sadly exists on both sides of the Atlantic. All of us, who care about justice and fairness for all must re-evaluate the way we think of each other and be mindful of inclusion.
At the Muslim Council of Britain, our ‘Proudly Muslim and Black Project’ continues to highlight critical issues facing black Muslim communities in the UK and how we can create better diversity and inclusion both within our communities and wider society.
Today we recognise there is still so much more to do and we must all play a role in creating a society in which we work for the common good of all”.
