An attack on one faith is an attack on us all: The Muslim Council of Britain condemns the anti-Semitic hate crime attack on a synagogue and other buildings in North London today.

Harun Khan, MCB Secretary General, said, “The anti-Semitic graffiti discovered at South Hampstead Synagogue and other buildings in Belsize Park and Hampstead today show that anti-Semitic hate remains a real threat to British society today.”

“An attack on one faith is an attack on us all. We stand in solidarity with Jewish friends and colleagues, and all Jewish communities affected directly or indirectly by these attacks. We pray that the perpetrators of today’s crime are caught and prosecuted swiftly.”

He continued, “That the news comes on the same day that five people were wounded in an attack on a Rabbi’s home in the US city of New York whilst celebrating Hanukkah is even more sickening. We must continue to work together in finding more effective ways to challenge racist attitudes in society in all its forms so that no minority group lives in fear.”
