The MCB is deeply concerned about the escalating violence in the Middle East, as Israeli forces intensify attacks. In Lebanon, over 1,000 people have been now been killed and over 6,000 wounded, according to the country’s health ministry. More than one million people have been displaced, and forced to flee their homes in search of safety as the IDF continue air strikes and heavy bombardment.
The growing human suffering is incomprehensible, with indiscriminate killings and bombings of residential buildings.
Meanwhile the war rages on in Gaza and the West Bank, deteriorating conditions and a death toll of 41,000, hundreds of thousands unaccounted for and the rest, refugees taking shelter.
Many families in the UK are watching these events unfold with deep fear and anxiety for their loved ones.
We urge our government and global leaders to work towards an immediate cessation of violence with increasing fears of a full-scale war in the Middle East. Israel’s relentless breaches of international law and the killing of innocent civilians must stop and be taken to account. The UK must continue efforts for a lasting peace.
