The MCB leadership team hosted a special online event for young girls to celebrate the success of local Muslim women and their contribution to local communities. MCB Secretary-General spent a week travelling across the UK to learn more about the achievements and successes of local Muslim women.

NATO Markom IWD 2023
MCB Sec-Gen was a guest speaker alongside former Prime Minister Theresea May at this unique celebration at NATO HQ. Sharing insight on being a Muslim Woman in leadership and what more organisations can do to be inclusive at the workplace. Read more about the event here.
APPG British Muslims Afternoon Tea
MCB Sec-Gen and ASG Mariam Hassan visited parliament for a celebration with leading women across politics, media, charity and business. Hosted by the APPG British Muslims, the event had keynote speeches from notable business women in the community and a strong message of solidarity, Muslim women have made big strides across sector.

Inspiring Young Girls online event
MCB Sec Gen and ASG Mariam Hassan hosted an interactive Q/A for young girls a chance to share what leadership has been like as women as well as answer questions around any challenges young people are facing. Some of the girls asked about dealing with bullying at school and stress of social media.

Birmingham
MCB Sec-Gen was hosted by one of our Muslim Women in Leadership program graduates Adla Yaqub for an evening at the Old Bank
Women raised issues about special needs Education, including in mosques and better support on issues like domestic abuse

Leicester
The MCB was hosted by our long-standing affiliate the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO) for a IWD 2023 celebrations bringing together Muslim women across sectors including the First Muslim woman High Sheriff of the city in 1000 years to ever hold the post. Among many other women who were pioneering good work across the community.
SG Zara reflected on her journey and encouraged the women to keep trailblazing.
Manchester
A special event hosted by Khizra Mosque, brought together women from across Manchester with keynote address from the second ever Muslim women Deputy Mayor Yasmine Dar and Cllr Shazia Butt. All shared challenges they faced in breaking barriers to be elected. The girls youth team member chaired the event and shared how the mosque was one of the first mosques to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
