The Muslim Council of Britain was privileged to host over 300 Muslim leaders representing the rich diversity of British Muslim communities across the UK on 25th January at the Royal Garden Hotel.
This momentous occasion coincided with significant global and local events, including the Gaza ceasefire, the inauguration of Donald Trump, and the conclusion of Zara Mohammed’s term as MCB Secretary General, along with her Executive team.
The evening was anchored by Naeem Badiuzzaman, who highlighted the importance of unity and collective reflection. This was followed by a poignant recitation by Qari Ishaaq Jasat from the National Huffadh Association, an MCB affiliate.
In her opening remarks, Zara Mohammed expressed sincere gratitude to the MCB team, partners, friends, and supporters for their encouragement throughout her demanding tenure. She reflected on key milestones, including navigating tough media interviews such as Woman’s Hour, as well as leading the organisation through moments of national crisis. Zara also shared the profound impact of her role as the MCB’s first female Secretary General, especially in inspiring young girls in the communities she visited.
A particularly meaningful memory was her recent visit to celebrate England’s 500 top-achieving students in Blackburn.
