The Muslim Council of Britain marks the somber anniversary as we remember the victims of Grenfell Tower now 7 years after this devastating tragedy, in which 72 were killed by the tower catching fire due to unsafe cladding.
MCB Secretary General, Zara Mohammed said:
“Today we remember the 72 precious lives that were killed by the blazing fire in Grenfell Tower. We relive the horror they faced in trying to escape with their families with many sadly being killed by the fire. Sadly even today, their families are still to get justice for what happened.
We are thankful for the incredible individuals who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of danger, risking their own lives to save others, and the communities that united to provide support and solace
The lessons from Grenfell must not be repeated. The most vulnerable in our society were left to die due to unsafe housing conditions. The next Government must ensure this cannot happen again,
Our hearts and prayers with all today.”
