MCB Secretary-General Dr Wajid Akhter was honoured to visit Finsbury Park Mosque on February 5, 2025, to celebrate its enduring role as a thriving centre of faith and community. In his address, Dr Akhter congratulated the dedicated team, highlighting that the true beauty of a mosque lies not in its architecture, location, or its vibrant events—but in its people.
He praised Finsbury Park Mosque for staying true to the spirit of the mosques of the Prophet’s (SAW) time, not just as places of worship, but as true sources of connection, support, and purpose. Reflecting on the importance of community, Dr Akhter called on the next generation to not only inherit these sacred spaces but to fill them with prayer and meaning.
Guests were also called to remember the devastating reality in Gaza, serving as a poignant reminder that the true value of a land lies in its people. Just as a mosque without its congregation is an empty shell, a land without its native people is stripped of its soul, its history, and its future.
The MCB extends its heartfelt appreciation to Finsbury Park Mosque for its unwavering commitment to community and service. Spaces like these are the backbone of a strong, united society, and we are grateful for their continued efforts to bring people together in the spirit of Islamic unity.
