The MCB Secretary-General joined faith leaders for a poignant Remembrance Day service at City Hall with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the London Assembly and the Royal British Legion.

This year’s service also marks the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.

The Secretary-General shared verses from Surah Ash-Shams, highlighting the importance of hope and the pursuit of goodness. As we honour soldiers who gave their lives for a cause greater than themselves, these verses remind us of our own duty to strive for a better world.

In paying tribute, the Secretary-General honoured all those who gave their sacrifice, including the contributions of millions of Muslim Soliders who served alongside others during World War II.

Wreaths were laid by members of the armed forces, as well as representatives from the ambulance and fire services, the Metropolitan Police and other organisation that supported the Allied efforts during the War.

Today, millions will fall silent to remember the fallen as the country marks the 106th Armistice Day.

They are gone, but not forgottten.
