The MCB Secretary-General had the honour of participating in the opening of a new community library and social space for the North London Muslim Community Centre (NLMCC).
The NLMCC has a 28-year legacy of serving the community by consistently supporting hundreds of families through a range of social welfare programmes including childcare, healthcare, education, employment assistance, poverty relief and youth engagement. The centre has also worked with prominent faith groups and civil society.

During a tour led by the staff from the NLMCC’s Ihsan Children’s Centre, the Secretary-General learned about the significant impact these programmes have had, particularly in areas of employment support and poverty relief. The staff shared inspiring stories of how their work continues to transform lives across the community.

The newly launched library was inspired and designed by the local youth offering a welcoming space for study, reflection and community gathering.
The Secretary-General enjoyed exploring the space, including the new game rooms and learning about future plans to enhance community engagement and development further.

Secretary-General, Zara Mohammed extends her gratitude to NLMCC:
“I congratulate the North London Muslim Community Centre for the opening of their community library, a wonderful space for everyone to connect, learn and share, a great testament to their pioneering work to serve communities.
We are proud of the NLMCC, for the last 28 years they have been supporting social mobility, making a real change for local families and providing help and support for those most in need. They are yet another example of local communities making Britain a better place for all, I commend them for this hardwork.”
