The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) extends its deepest condolences to all those impacted by the recent earthquake in Morocco, which has so far claimed more than 2,100 lives. Countless others have also been left critically injured, homeless and displaced.
This 6.8-magnitude earthquake, the strongest in a century in the region, struck 75km from Marrakech late on Friday, causing widespread devastation in remote villages around the epicenter. Rescue efforts are ongoing as responders work tirelessly to search for survivors and provide aid to those in need.
Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this catastrophic event, including Moroccan communities here in the UK. In these trying times, it is crucial that we come together as one to provide much needed support.
We urge everyone to contribute to relief efforts and offer assistance to the survivors. Your generous donations can make a significant difference in helping those who have lost their homes, livelihoods and loved ones.
We encourage mosques, community organizations, and individuals to organise fundraising initiatives and collect donations to provide much-needed relief to affected communities. Please ensure you only donate through UK charities that are registered and reputable or by those directly impacted.
Let us continue to remember the victims, survivors and their families in our prayers; may the Almighty ease their hardship and bestow relief, strength and healing unto them.
