MCB Leadership Team visit community groups and affiliates in Bradford and Leeds, June 2, 2023

As part of MCB Community wide engagement, our Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General, Dr Shahzad Amin travelled to the city of Bradford.

A city of great diversity, culture and community activities, the MCB team were delighted to be hosted by a number of local businesses, mosques, community groups and charities, a short summary below.

Meeting thriving Businesses

Our team was met with a warm welcome by two longstanding family businesses, employing hundreds of workers across the UK and supporting a thriving service industry. Our special thanks to Adams Food Services and Regal Foods for a visit to the sites and insights, a great testament to the business community, creating opportunities for all.

Meeting with Bradford Central Mosque and Mustafa Mount Mosque, and Islam Bradford

As Bradford’s communities grow and are increasingly diverse it was great to visit key institutions serving vast communities. Our team met with the trustees and management of each mosque learning about the need to increase in service provision given challenges of mental health, youth engagement and socio-economic deprivation. It was great to hear of upcoming programs and the commitment to serving communities from all backgrounds.

We thank all for their time and warmth.

Muslim Women’s Council
A long standing organisation serving Muslim women it was great to hear of the 99 names of Allah project, the campaigns on sustainability and the environment as well as the future projects to ensure space and support for Muslim women. We thank the team for their time and hospitality.

The Leeds Sawehli Centre Mosque
As an affiliate for the past five years, their commitment to our shared vision was evident. Serving a diverse ethnic community, the centre was a great place for communities to meet. We look forward to more work together.

In conclusion, the visit to our affiliates in Bradford and Leeds was an enriching experience, allowing us to connect, learn, and share with our valued partners.
