“The Muslim Council of Britain cautiously welcomes this overdue travel ban and assets frozen of Israeli far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich over their culpability in Gaza. However, it arrives in the wake of immense suffering and loss of life, where over 55,000 Palestinians have been killed. We must acknowledge that those responsible for such atrocities must face justice, including those who enabled and perpetuated such horrors. While this step is a beginning, it is not enough.
The MCB will carry on calling and campaigning for Britain to recognise Palestine as a sovereign, independent state, demand an immediate end to the mass killing of civilians, ensure the safe return of all hostages on both sides, facilitate the immediate and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and cease all arms exports and military support to the Israeli government.”
