Several British Muslim charities have responded to an MCB appeal and have pledged emergency funds to help the families of the victims of Sunday’s earthquake which sent huge tidal waves from Malaysia to Africa leaving a trail of terrible destruction and human grief in its wake.
`One of the MCB’s affiliates, Muslim Aid, yesterday announced that they were allocating an immediate initial sum of £100,000 to help purchase food, clothing and medicines in the countries affected by this tragedy. Today we have learned that several other charities including two MCB affiliates, Islamic Relief and Human Relief Foundation have also pledged significant sums bringing the total donated so far to just over £500,000. We urge all British Muslims to donate generously to help these charities to speedily deliver much needed aid and support to the afflicted,’ said Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain.
The contact details for donations to the main British Muslim charities are as follows:
Muslim Aid: 0207 3774200 https://www.muslimaid.org/
Islamic Relief: 0121 6220622 https://www.islamic-relief.com/

Human Appeal International: 0161 2250225 https://humanappeal.org.uk/
`The MCB requests all mosques throughout the UK to make a special appeal at this week’s Friday congregational prayers to raise emergency funds for these charities and to pray for the victims of this tragedy,’ added Mr Sacranie.
