Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide. It is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, charity and community service and engagement for those observing, all with a purpose of achieving greater god consciousness.
For those observing Ramadan, the Muslim Council of Britain’s (MCB) Ramadan Guide 2023 includes information on how to maintain physical and mental health during the holy month, alongside providing top tips on fasting whilst working or studying from home.
For those interested in learning more about Ramadan, this guide offers key information on what the holy month means for Muslims and how it is observed, whilst also providing practical guidance for employers on how they can support Muslim colleagues and staff during this month.
Commenting upon its release, Zara Mohammed, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain, said:
“As Muslims in the UK prepare to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, we are acutely aware of the challenges posed by the ongoing cost of living crisis. This year’s guide has been developed with this in mind, offering practical advice on how to make the most of Ramadan, whilst retaining the spirit of compassion, generosity and charity.
“As we reflect on the past year, we remain mindful of those enduring great hardship and suffering, including those facing the devastating impact of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria. We keep them in our prayers and continue to call upon one and all to show their support in whichever way they are able.
“I welcome the publication of this guide and join British Muslims in awaiting the opportunity to observe this blessed month.”
