Today we honour them and remember their suffering. The pain of Srebrenica is still etched in our memory, and we are still coming to terms with the lessons learned from that tragedy. With the far right on the rise in Europe, and communities becoming more polarised, we must redouble our efforts to ensure we do not slide into hatred.
The Muslim Council of Britain welcomes the many interfaith events taking place this week to mark the Srebrenica genocide. Communities from all faiths and none are coming together to say a little prayer and ensure this tragedy is not forgotten. Many of the MCB’s affiliates are also taking part, including the East London Mosque and the Muath Trust in Birmingham.
