Proudly Muslim & Black: Black History Month 2020 & Beyond

Proudly Muslim & Black set to deliver key interventions from Black History Month 2020 onwards

The MCB’s Proudly Muslim & Black (PMB) project has been listening to a wide variety of Black Muslim-led organisations since early 2019 to better understand how to tackle racism, intolerance and other anti-Black attitudes that exist within British Muslim communities. This has included partnering with dozens of Black Muslim-led organisations to deliver a symposium in SOAS in February 2019 and a seminar in the Houses of Parliament in October 2019.

Black History Month 2020 is set to mark the upcoming release of the premiere Proudly Muslim & Black report, including contributions from a number of experts from across disciplines detailing the civic, social, cultural experiences, challenges, and contributions of African and Afro-Caribbean Muslims in Britain, both past and present.

The report will be a key resource that the PMB team and its partners will draw upon to deliver PMB interventions thereafter, including: an anti-racist conference and a series of anti-racist workshops to be delivered across non-Black British Muslim communities across the UK.
