Commenting on the attack of the South Essex Islamic Centre, Dr Wajid Akhter, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain said:
“The South Essex Islamic Centre in Basildon has been vandalised, which is another shocking reminder of the wave of racist attacks targeting mosques across Britain.
Hate does not exist in a vacuum. Years of silence and the normalisation of this rhetoric have paved the way for this. When will people wake up to the real consequences of allowing hate to go unchecked?
