Today, on the 18th anniversary, another 409 victims of the Srebrenica massacre will be reclaimed and buried, including a newborn baby. The massacre of 8000 Muslim men and boys took place in the town of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was dubbed as ‘the worst atrocity since World War II’. The town was in a UN safe zone when Dutch UN forces capitulated thousands of Muslim men and boys were rounded up and shot by Bosnian Serb militia, led by General Ratko Mladic.
Farooq Murad, Secretary General of the MCB said: “The moving anniversary is always a chilling reminder of the destruction of what racial hatred can lead to in societies. It should strengthen our resolve to stand united against all forms of hatred and divisive rhetoric.”
