The Muslim Foster Network has designated Friday 25th May, 9th Ramadan, as a day of action to raise awareness of the need for Muslim Foster carers . The Fostering Network estimates that 8,100 new foster families are needed in the next 12 months alone. These will include families for Muslim children, many of whom are unaccompanied refugee children. Due to the shortage of Muslim Foster carers, a significant proportion of Muslim children are placed outside of their faith group.
The challenge, for the Muslim Foster Network is ensure “believing children that are taken into foster care, find believing homes to foster them”. Mosques are urged to highlight the issue in khutbas at the Friday congregational prayers of 25th May insha Allah.
