The Muslim Council of Britain broadly welcomes the main recommendations put forward to the government today by seven Muslim task groups and believes their implementation – in full – would help curb support for extremists. “These working groups have come up with some very sensible and practical proposals to tackle the phenomenon of violent extremism. In addition, the proposals recommending holding a Public Inquiry into the events of July 7 and reviewing the impact of some of our foreign policies are, we believe, crucial to gaining the confidence of the Muslim community. We urge the government to accept these proposals – in full,” said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain.
