The MCB’s Muslim Leadership Dinner Brings Together Diverse Community, political, and Business Leaders

In an initiative to strengthen Muslim civil society, the Muslim Council of Britain is hosting its first Muslim Leadership Dinner on 22nd February at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square. Over 500 community organisers and activists, business leaders and future leaders from diverse backgrounds have come together in a renewal of community cooperation and solidarity. The MCB will be announcing programmes to build capacity, and improve governance and professionalism, so that Muslims in Great Britain, so much in the public eye, can look to the future with optimism and focus.

The MCB is delighted that distinguished personalities from the world of politics, media, interfaith relations and other prominent British institutions have accepted its invitation to the event. Speakers include the Rt Hon Jack Straw MP, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, the Rt Hon Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and the Rt Hon John Denham MP, Secretary of State for Communities. Professor Tariq Ramadan will also be speaking on Muslim identity.

On the eve of the Dinner Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, says, `At a time when many are struggling to see how justice and fairness can be re-introduced to public life our faith, which places the harmony of the community as the greatest good, and is underpinned by the belief that a just society can and will be achieved, this event gives us the opportunity to collectively set agenda for the future.’
