MCB Secretary-General Zara Mohammed was delighted to be hosted by York Mosque community kitchen this weekend. This remarkable initiative, now celebrating its first anniversary, has been a beacon of support for hundreds of locals, students, and families in need of a warm meal.
The community kitchen, held every other week, brings together people from all walks of life. The meals are prepared by volunteers or generously donated by local businesses.

During her visit, the MCB Secretary-General, Zara Mohammed, was moved by the dedication of York Mosque and its volunteers in providing a welcoming space for those facing challenges, especially during the cold winter months and amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Zara Mohammed expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the team at York Mosque, saying: “This initiative is a shining example of how communities can come together to support one another. In challenging times, this work strengthens the bonds between us all.”
The MCB extends its appreciation to York Mosque for their hospitality, vision, and efforts to make a meaningful difference. Initiatives like the community kitchen exemplify the power of grassroots action in bringing communities closer together.

In this spirit, MCB has been collaborating with Warm Welcome to provide warm spaces for the most vulnerable this winter.
