Accessible Family-Friendly Entertainment Programming

This criterion evaluates the extent to which the organization provides accessible, inclusive, and engaging entertainment and recreational programs specifically designed for families, adhering to Islamic values and strict safeguarding standards. It assesses the organization's systematic approach to planning diverse activities that cater to all age groups (children, youth, adults, seniors) and abilities, ensuring compliance with the Equality Act 2010 through documented reasonable adjustments. The criterion emphasizes 'Raf' al-Haraj' (removal of hardship) by evaluating affordability mechanisms (subsidies), convenient scheduling around prayer times, and logistical support. It requires a robust governance framework where safeguarding is treated as an 'Amanah' (trust), including mandatory vetting, supervision ratios, and risk management. Furthermore, the organization must demonstrate a 'closed-loop' feedback process (CAPA) to continuously improve program quality, safety, and spiritual value, ensuring a welcoming environment that strengthens family bonds (Silat al-Rahim).

Assessment Questions
  1. How does the organization systematically plan a diverse portfolio of activities that caters to intergenerational needs?
  2. What is the formal process for reviewing program content against Shariah and Adab guidelines before approval?
  3. How does the organization demonstrate compliance with the Equality Act 2010 regarding reasonable adjustments for disabled participants?
  4. What safeguarding controls (DSL, DBS, ratios, training) are mandatory for all family events, and how are they monitored?
  5. How are affordability and 'Raf' al-Haraj' addressed to ensure low-income families can participate without stigma?
  6. Describe the 'closed-loop' process for using feedback and incident reports to implement corrective actions (CAPA).

  • Annual calendar demonstrating rotation of timings and activity types.
Scoring Guidelines
LevelRatingDescription
5 5/5 Innovative, high-impact programming with fully embedded safeguarding and inclusion standards. Data shows exceptional family satisfaction and strengthening of bonds. Accessibility and affordability are seamless. Acts as a model of excellence.
4 4/5 Comprehensive, consistent programming with robust safeguarding and accessibility measures. Most community needs are met, and feedback loops are active. Islamic values are formally governed and integrated.
3 3/5 Regular family programs offered with basic safety and Islamic compliance. Accessibility and affordability are considered but may lack formal standardization. Feedback is collected but not always acted upon systematically.
2 2/5 Ad-hoc family events with inconsistent safety or values oversight. Accessibility is reactive rather than proactive. Significant barriers to participation exist for some demographics.
1 1/5 Minimal or no family programming. Significant gaps in safeguarding, accessibility, or alignment with Islamic values. High risk of exclusion or harm.
