Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred MCB Platform
Anti-Muslim hate crime is rising sharply — arson, firebombings and assaults, with little coverage or government action. Ask your MP to raise it in Parliament and press for the Special Representative and mosque-security reform before summer recess.

Subject: Take action on Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hate crime
Dear [Your MP's Name],
For the past few months and years, Islamophobic and anti-Muslim hatred in the UK has been skyrocketing and manifesting itself in increasing pre-meditated violence targeting ordinary British Muslims going about their daily lives, from “Remigration or Die” graffiti on mosque walls, to Imam’s homes being firebombed, to worshippers being stabbed after leaving evening prayers and more.
Repeated hostile Islamophobic incidents have occurred in the month of June 2026 alone, with an average of 4-5 incidents taking place per week. Shockingly, over 40% of these incidents were arson or firebombing events. Collectively these incidents have often received little to no mainstream media coverage and minimal concern (let alone action) expressed by the Prime Minister, Home Secretary or Faith Minister except for occasional empty words in social media posts.
As my Member of Parliament, I would like you to take the following actions and urge the government — especially the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Faith Communities as well as the Minister for Local Housing, Communities and Local Government — to take serious measures to end all forms of hate crimes against British Muslims.
Muslims and other minority communities across the UK are dreading another summer of potential Southport-style riots as in 2024, following the attempts to stoke such violence on our streets in Southampton and Belfast in recent weeks. Before summer recess, I urge you and all Parliamentarians to take three simple actions:
1) Table a written or oral question to a Minister, or make an intervention in a parliamentary debate — (a) highlighting one or more of the violent or hostile incidents above; (b) outlining the palpable fear being felt in many minority communities, the toxic media narratives that have fostered this and the disappointment at the apparent institutional indifference; and (c) calling for a clear Government action plan and quarterly updates to reassure communities.
2) Write to the Communities Secretary, urging him to appoint the Special Representative on Anti-Muslim Hostility that was announced in March 2026, with a Terms of Reference and secretariat budget commensurate to that of the Independent Advisor on Antisemitism.
3) Write to the Home Office, urging a rapid reform of its Protective Security for Mosques scheme, which appears to be entirely not fit-for-purpose and unresponsive to those who need the most support.

I hope to hear from you soon on this matter.
Yours sincerely,
