Primary Data Source
All demographic data is sourced from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Census 2021.
Specifically, we utilize datasets cross-tabulated by Religion = 'Muslim' to ensure insights represent the community accurately.
A Lower Layer Super Output Area (LSOA) is a geographic area designed for reporting small area statistics.
- Contains roughly 1,500 people or 650 households.
- Used instead of postcodes to protect individual privacy.
- Allows for precise identification of pockets of deprivation or affluence.
Employment (TS063)
Active unemployment among those aged 16+ seeking work.
Education (TS067)
Percentage with Level 4+ qualifications (Degrees/Professional) as a proxy for higher education.
Health (TS037)
Percentage reporting "Bad" or "Very bad" health.
Overcrowding (TS051)
Occupancy rating of -1 or less, indicating fewer bedrooms than required.
PHE Fingertips
Includes Life Expectancy, Infant Mortality, and Chronic Disease prevalence sourced from Public Health England.
IMD 2019 (Deprivation)
The Index of Multiple Deprivation ranks areas from 1 (Most Deprived) to 32,844 (Least Deprived) in England.
Limitations
- Snapshot in Time: Data is from March 2021 (Census) and 2019 (IMD).
- Proxies: Some metrics (e.g., General Health) are self-reported proxies for clinical health.
- Privacy: Small numbers may be suppressed/rounded by the ONS to prevent identification.
