Proactive media & public relations supporting external engagement

Assesses whether the organization uses proactive, compliant media and PR to support its external engagement and social action efforts. This includes transparent communication, rigorous safeguarding (especially regarding imagery and dignity), regulatory compliance (campaigning, data protection), and the ethical shaping of public narratives. This approach aligns with the Islamic principles of sidq (truthfulness) in public discourse and hifz al-ird (preservation of dignity) when representing beneficiaries. By ethically managing communications, organizations fulfill the mandate of da'wah (calling to good).

Fiqh Principles

Al-Tarātīb al-Idāriyyah

A classical work on the administrative systems and governance structures during the time of the Prophet Muhammad.

Ṣidq

Truthfulness. A foundational principle requiring all communication to be factual, honest, and free from deception. It is a prerequisite for building trust.

Amānah

Trustworthiness and reliability. In PR, this means being a reliable source of information and fulfilling the trust placed in the organization by the public and stakeholders.

Ghibah avoidance

Avoiding backbiting or speaking negatively about others in their absence.

Satr

Protecting the dignity and privacy of individuals by concealing their faults or shortcomings.

Dar’ al‑mafsadah

Preventing harm or corruption, even if the action itself is permissible, if it leads to negative consequences.

Tathabbut

Verification and deliberation before spreading news, ensuring accuracy and preventing harm from misinformation.

Tablīgh

The act of conveying the message of truth in Islam.

Maṣlaḥah

A principle in Islamic jurisprudence that refers to pursuing the public interest or common good.

Balāgha

The art of clear, eloquent, and effective communication that is also ethical.

Iḥsān

Excellence. This concept encourages organizations to strive for the highest quality in their communication, ensuring it is not only truthful but also professional, clear, and impactful.
